Food, rent/mortgage payments, energy have all gone up substantially.

Some food has gone up, some down, as always. Housing to purchase is still more affordable than in decades, though off the lows. Energy is a mixed bag, but the big increases were years ago. And interest rates are not causing any inflation. We'll need stronger growth for that to happen.

The US government is not lying to you MM. Their measurements are not perfect, but they're good. Inflation, overall, is still tame. I expect we'll see more as the recovery progresses.

You need to get off the wacko blogs and back into the mainstream. All the cynicism about virtually everything doesn't help. If previous generations had been so negative, the country never would have been a success. We're supposed to be a country of positive risk takers, not chicken little cowards.
