8/16/13 Contest Update Along with the broad market, biotechs got beat up a bit this week. Nonetheless, the Charity Contest champs weathered the selling storm with little damage and, notably, the Contest median is now outperforming the Nasdaq Biotech Index by 4% YTD. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 41.36% YTD (vs. up 41.43% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 37.13% (vs. up 42.58% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 19.32% YTD (vs. up 21.22% YTD a week ago). It’s still a tight race for the Contest gold, with BLADE’s portfolio, up 98.84% YTD, holding on to first place, RKRW’s portfolio, up 96.14% YTD, close behind in second place and FILO’s portfolio, up 81.22% YTD, in third place. At Friday's close, 38 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the black with 20 of the 39 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
