8/23/13 Contest Update Is it “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” or “Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder”? For investors it was the latter, as their appetite for stocks grew following Thursday’s three-hour Nasdaq nap. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up a smashing 50.32% YTD (vs. up 41.36% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 40.97% (vs. up 37.13% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 21.14% YTD (vs. up 19.32% YTD a week ago). BLADE’s portfolio, up 112.22% YTD, had another hot week, extending its Contest lead, with RKRW’s portfolio, up 106.44% YTD, holding on to second place and FILO’s portfolio, up 95.42% YTD, still in third place. Meanwhile, my own portfolio, up 70.86%, got some SSH sunshine and leapfrogged into the No. 8 spot. At Friday's close, 37 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the black with an impressive 24 of the 39 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
