8/30/13 Contest Update Sad to say, satirist Andy Borowitz sounds all too real here: newyorker.com Meanwhile, whether it was Syria or something else, investors were antsy. And, at Friday’s close, the Contest median gave back some of its recent gains and is now up a mere 46.46% YTD (vs. up 50.32% YTD a week ago). Surprisingly, the Nasdaq Biotech Index did manage a small gain for the week, closing up 41.38% YTD (vs. up 40.97% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 18.89% YTD (vs. up 21.14% YTD a week ago). CPRX was the catalyst responsible for the surge by RKRW’s portfolio, which vaulted to the Contest lead with a 113.34% YTD gain. BLADE’s portfolio, up 103.07% YTD, slipped to second place, with FILO’s portfolio, up 88.31% YTD, remaining in third place. At Friday's close, 37 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the black with 23 of the 39 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
