That is very interesting stuff and you won't find me arguing with suggestions made therein on what black kids can do to improve their chances for success.

Would you happen to know how many of the kids in your classes, on a percentage basis, were being raised by a single parent, and then how many of those kids parent were on welfare?

No, I do not know those stats.

I do know that the girl who gave me the most problems and who misbehaved the most was the progeny of a black father and white mother who still lived together. Of course that proves absolutely nothing.

And I do know that the mother of CNN's Don Lemon had a Master's and his father was a mechanic. That happens all too often in black families where the wife is better educated than the husband. And that will only get worse going forward.

And then do you know did your school district keep statistics on graduation rates from HS according to neighborhoods?

Have no idea. And let me make clear to you............I was not in a ghetto school. I was in a school where most of the kids came from poor homes.

I know that is lot of data to ask for, but I'm just seeing if it is possible to quantify what we are talking about here so its not just our opinions being voiced.

We have two different concepts going on here...........you want to blame all the current problems with the black community on welfare. I am saying that welfare doesn't matter. What matters is getting them when they are young and educating the hell out of them so that they have alternatives when they are adults; so that welfare, gangs, drugs, dealing and thieving are not their only options.
