But who gets to decide what is right for me? For some people, figuring out what will work best for them is beyond their abilities, but I don't feel I'm in that category, and I'd prefer to have some choice in what I do. I have plenty of equity in various forms, so why can't I use that as a hedge in my health insurance, and get a better effective deal? I can under the existing system, but it will be much harder under Mr Obama's taking a interest in my well-being.

The strongest argument for single payer is simply that if you look at other advanced countries, they spent much less on healthcare than we do, and get as good or better outcomes. So why can't we? And besides, we already have single payer for the portion of life that racks up most the healthcare costs, so whats the big deal?
