Last Seagate drive I bought off Amazon, when I ran the serial number after calling Seagate, they told me it was made for a IBM machine (the chipset was made for IBM). They told me for support and warranty I would have to contact IBM. So the seller was selling drives he must have bought at an auction. I sent it back and bought a OEM drive from my computer store. I called Seagate and ran that serial number and it was made retail market. I will never buy hard drives off Amazon anymore.

Only place I will but hard drives from is my computer store in my city. They come direct from the manufacture, or their supplier.
