What be my "criteria" for successful for minorities? When their graduation rate matches that of non-minorities and that would be a minimum standard. My criteria is that a child of a disadvantaged family reaches adulthood with options for survival beyond drugs and illegal activities. Education provides that alternative. What I find interesting is how whites judge people of color by supposed white standards. But what are these standards that whites deem fair when making their evaluation? After all, whites have been the dominant race in this country for the past 300 years, and yet, whites make up the majority of prison inmates in this country. If we have our shit together, why are so many of us turning to a life of drugs and crime? People are not widgets. Their thinking process is organic. You can give them all the benefits and they will reject it for something negative. That notwithstanding, we need to do the right thing........which is give all America's kids the same quality education and provide them with options when deciding their future. Stats be damned!
