I understand that and as I said to Koan, I want SS to continue to pay out to beneficiaries for the foreseeable future. Koan agreed with my proposed solutions. However, to solve the problem we must first admit that there is one. Folks like you who don't believe there is any problem are what is getting in the way of solving it.

Any system that is pay as you go is simply unstable, which is why we now see the SS system running massive deficits. You don't need to worry. You'll get all of your benefits. But my kids won't. I may not get mine either. We need to fix it so that everyone gets there benefits.

You talk of selfishness, but what I see is that you are being selfish in that you will get yours and you don't care that the generations that come after you will not. That's the real selfish thing. All I want is to fix this system so that it can stay viable for the next 200 years.

I really don't understand why some folks get the notion of SS straight? Is it that complex that it cannot get into their brains or are they simply that dumb to play politics. Are they that much with their head up their ass that they understand the concept of "insurance in the health industry" and are ready to go out to bat for these health insurers but then when it comes to SS they advocate just the opposite.
