In that context, I can agree with your comments. Nevertheless, I don't expect the owners to consult me or other SI members re strategy, tactics or direction. It's just not something that companies routinely do; and, Dmitry is taking suggestions (even if he doesn't implement them. ;-) )

Are there any sites that you might know of that employ those type of democratic operating rules? Curious since I don't know of anything out there that even approaches the quality of this site...

Your question back in August prompted me to add up the total annual number of posts on SI since inception, which are tallied below. I'm basing this on the first post # of each year, so I have no way to separate stock boards from other boards. For 2013 I'm projecting 665,000 posts by end of year, so we're continuing to decline...
