Good on you. But realize that this sort of thing is much more widespread than you'd think. My best friend is Middle Eastern and his wife is Ethiopian. They've gotten refused service/frozen out at places all over the country. -Z

It’s just true. Black people don’t tip. 4 years ago by User Submitted 1,634 I swear. When I first started waiting tables, I heard about how black people don’t tip. I didn’t believe it until I experienced it for myself. I have waited tables at three different restaurants in the past few years and it’s the same at each place. Black people don’t tip. It doesn’t matter if you’re white or black or any other color, you’re most likely not getting a good tip. most often, I see $1 per person. If it’s a 4 top and the bill is $100, the tip will be $4. That’s accurate unless two of the people are children, then you’re getting $2 tip. Because I give everyone a fair chance, this still hurts every time. Sometimes the table will be as sweet as can be, then tipped me the standard $1/person. I don’t see how something is racist if it’s true. Ask black people who wait tables. If they’re honest, they’ll tell you they know this to be true as well. I’d just like to know why black people don’t tip. If you’re black, and you don’t tip, why not leave a comment on here. P.S. I like The site. P.P.S. This happened as recently as yesterday. We have an all you can eat rib special….the worst promotion ever. I will run back and forth for a table, refilling sweet tea and lemonade for an hour, even 2, as well as running plates of food, extra napkins, and dirty dishes, and still get no tip or a $1/person. Wow, I feel like the luckiest server in the world after reading through 40+ pages of posts! I am blessed enough to live in Minnesota where restaurants are required to pay their servers $7.25/ hour, and also at a casual family restaurant in a nice part of town where I never leave with less than $125 in my pocket even on a 4-5 hour shift. And during those shifts, I may only have to deal with one or two black tables. So even when I get a horrible or no tip from black people, which is the case literally 99% of the time, it doesn’t ruin my day.

"I have been working at a popular chain restaurant for 6 years. I don’t care what coler you are but these are the facts….98% of white people that come in tip better than 15%. 95% of black people tip less then 10%. Nevermind the fact that black people don’t tip, most don’t even say hello back to me let alone a “thank you” or “please”. Here is another fact. In my 6 years I have had 3 white people leave me no tip compared to an estimate 2400 black people leave me no tip! I came to that conclusion because 2 black people a day, every day stiff me!!! 5 days a week, 12 months a year, you do the math. But that’s ok because pay back is a bitch!! Ask me how many drinking straws and silver ware that black people use, smell and taste like my ass crack!!!"
