We don't have grounds here, Gaugie. Or didn't till three years ago, when the EU insisted. So they ran a third wire into everybody's apartment but didn't connect it to anything. I suppose this is why I often get a little shock when I touch my stovetop, but then it's always been like taht and I'm used to it.

But it's only a little one. I suppose it could be worse, as we run 220v. Could kick me across the room, and taht would be tiresome.

Jeez Gauguin, thanks for the lecture, I'm suprised I lived when I rewired part of my house and barn. Had some friends do the final hook up to the box, guys that could say damn that hurt very well.

Have you ever read about when Edison and Westinghouse were in a debate on if the country went ac or dc with dc being safer but more expensive? A baboon was set on fire with ac and Willian Wemler sat in the first electric chair and watched the death room being built around him. After the first jolt he was alive and awake and very pissed off, second round they gave him 60 seconds and cooked him alive. Country still went for the cheaper ac.
