Yes, but we don't stop advocating for such just because one party is not on board for it. Call them out on it.

You certainly have my blessing to do so. If you wish. My generation of social scientists who worked there, some remote friends of mine, are long gone. But I hear from them and other friends that morale is terribly low--not surprising at all. And that it's very hard to impossible to get funding for large social policy studies the results of which might challenge right wing policy positions.

And you will add that is also true of the left. Which is not true. This kind of serious policy research has been funded, not as well as it should be, but enough to get some serious work done, when Democrats ran the congress. And, to the best of my knowledge, there was little if any political pressure to either choose studies which produce certain outcomes or suppress reporting from one's that don't.

Democrats, at least those with control of the purse strings, have, with only the fewest exceptions, been guardians of good research, listened to it, and put together policy proposals that reflected it.
