I'm not up on the relation between the money for college athletics and tuition costs. My concern is the way it distorts the learning experience, the goals of campus life, and so on.

But in so far as I have some experience the programs I knew about were largely self supporting, certainly the big time college programs. I doubt much tuition money, if any, goes to pay for those costs. Perhaps the smaller athletic programs.
