Amex to Update Stocks in the Morgan Stanley High-Technology 35 Index

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today announced it will update the component stocks of The Morgan Stanley High-Technology 35 Index (ticker symbol MSH) in conjunction with the Index's upcoming annual rebalancing. The changes to MSH -- which include an added sub-category, contract manufacturers -- will become effective after the close of trading on Friday, December 19, 1997.

The component changes are as follows:

Entering the Index Leaving the Index
EMC Corp (NYSE:EMC - news) Adobe (ADBE)
Solectron (SLR) KLA-Tencor (KLAC)
Yahoo! (YHOO) Silicon Graphics (SGI)

The Morgan Stanley High-Technology 35 Index (''Tech-35'') is intended to provide investors with an effective performance benchmark for the technology industry, as well as a liquid institutional trading, hedging and investment vehicle.

The equal dollar-weighted index consists of companies from all the major technology sub-sectors including, computer services, server software/technical software, PC software & Internet/new media, networking and telecommunications equipment, wireless telecom equipment, server hardware, PC hardware and peripherals, semiconductor capital equipment, contract manufacturers, and semiconductors. The Tech-35 does not include biotechnology, medical, test and instrumentation companies.
