9/13/13 Contest Update Although some, such as Vladimir Putin, take issue with American exceptionalism, there’s no doubting the exceptionalism of the biotechies in our Charity Contest. To wit, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up a remarkable 55.84% YTD (vs. up 52.73% YTD a week ago). This stellar performance even trumped the Nasdaq Biotech Index gain, up 51.36% YTD (vs. up 47.11% YTD a week ago) and more than doubled the Nasdaq Composite Index gain, up 23.27% YTD (vs. up 21.21% YTD a week ago). RKRW’s portfolio widened its Contest lead, finishing the week with an awe-inspiring 128.19% YTD gain. But second place BLADE’s portfolio, up 118.73% YTD, clearly remains within striking distance, with FILO’s portfolio, up 101.08% YTD, holding on to third place. At Friday's close, 38 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the black with 21 of the 39 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
