I trust that Roy W Spencer is not manipulating data. Make that I know it because all the data he uses is in the public domain. But the IPCC does not publish the raw data or how is is processed.

So I do not know if some number of scientist who are AGW certain are manipulating data by intent or selection or by accident. But I discount it if it contradicts conclusions from published data and methods.

And AGW is a huge political movement lobbing for billions of dollars. Getting money is about marketing and sales.

What percentage of folks would fudge to prevent unemployment. What percentage of the folks working for your scientists would fudge to prevent unemployment.

Manipulated data you can see:

In 1999, Hansen thought that the US had cooled half a degree since the 1930s.

"Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

in the U.S. there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country (Figure 2)."

NASA GISS: Science Briefs: Whither U.S. Climate?

But that just wasn’t going to do, so the next year they rewrote US history to create a non-existent warming trend.

Hi koan; Re: "Scientists are a very careful and responsible group and they check each others work. It is a cardinal rule in the scientific community to tell the truth."

We're not talking about "scientists" here, we're talking about "climate scientists".

If you want to claim that climate scientists are "very careful and responsible" and "tell the truth", then *you* need to explain how it is that 15 years ago they told us that "the science is settled" and they predicted temperatures to be so much warmer than they actually turned out to be. And of course the evidence collected from climateGate shows that their private opinions and their public statements are completely incompatible. In short, they're fools and liars.
