Talking about blown backs. Sally had spinal fusion (L2 & 3) six months ago.

Nasty procedure, and she still hurts.

My feet have been giving me trouble for a couple of yrs

I feel your pain! Suggestions that work for me:

Toss any shoes that do not provide real support.
Try DREW shoes, or pick another ortho type shoe with removable insoles.
Never walk barefoot. Not even a few steps.
Keep a pair of slides with plenty of arch support real handy, so you never have to walk barefoot. NAOT is one such brand. Most Adidas shower shoes have very good arch support too.
See a podiatrist. Mine got me some wonderful custom shoe inserts. I get new ones every 4-6 months.
Rub in a little aspercreme a few times everyday.
Try cutting a Lidoderm patch into strips and put 1 or 2 strips on bad spots for sleeping.
Have a great attitude about shoes. Go for pain relieving support not looks. Shoes that reduce/relieve foot pain are beautiful no matter what they look like.
Good luck with this.

I do all of the above.
