Thomas, I think Oracle is "blaming ASIA" to some degree here. Yes, there were currency problems, but read this...

Thomas,

<What worries me is the long term implications of a shift from the main frame/ORACLE type systems to MSFT/NT.>

I have been considering adding ORCL as a core holding and have been waiting for a good entry point. Tomorow might be a good chance, however, I share the concern above. I think the transition mentioned above is very real and is going to accelerate over the next couple years, especially as INTC rolls out Merced. One of INTC's strategies is clearly to become as dominant at the high end as they have been on the desktop. This includes taking share away from the mini-computers and mainframes. Does anyone know if ORCL has a strategy of dealing with this transition? Any reason to believe that ORCL cannot port their current technology to a WINTEL platform.

All input is sincerely appreciated.
