Good idea to keep guns locked up, period. If your house is burglarized, they will go for the guns, quickly.
Also, if one is prone to drinking heavily... I know a guy who got drunk on Saturday night, got out his pistol and blew a hole through his dining room wall, and it then went through his neighbor's kitchen window. (No one hurt, fortunately)
Sounds like a redneck having a big time on Saturday night? Actually it was a lawyer who had relocated down here from Connecticut. But he was having a tough time in his personal life. Just sayin'....

<<<< We're not going to lovey dovey our way out of a nation armed to the teeth with weapons >>>

Well, that's not really what I meant. I am thinking along the lines of the chief of the hospital who argued that we need to work together. That doesn't mean you have to love the other side - it just means that for pragmatic reasons we should stop hating each other and work for a common good. That common good being fewer mass killings. It might mean more attention given to reducing video games full of violence, and it might be more attention given to returning veterans from war ravaged environment and it might be more resources going into mental health. Not for a second am I targeting democrats - but rather both sides. Some of this .......it is insane we can't agree to and work towards a positive goal.

" If you really think your own personal arsenal will save you, I think you're delusional, but I don't think it makes a damn bit of difference whether you arm yourself or not."

I just think it gives me a better chance. I don't want to be whipping my chef's knife out at a gunfight.
