Chris,

This isn't really a new contract, just a product enhancement. It is pretty clear Sequent and Ancor will not be doing buisness in the forseeable future. But Ancor lost that contract over a year ago, this isn't exactly new news. The shock is how vindictive the PR reads, you can tell Bruce and Brenda got to help write that one<g>. Brocade was allowed to direct a couple paragraphs directly at Ancor, at least we know Brocade considers Ancor a serious threat now.

On a positve note, how do you sue Ancor for saying the Sequent contract could be worth up to 30M? It is pretty clear it was.

Brocade and Sequent have been working together for about a year now. This serves to demonstrate how long it can take to develop a quality product. In the last CC, Ancor predicted their storage revenues would ramp up second half '98, about a year from the introduction of the MKII.

Personally, I am not going to let announcements from Sequent or DEC bother me because the MKII was not available in time for those OEM opportunities. Should the next 15-20 OEMs go to Brocade as well, I will definetly be sweating... :-)
