You are the embodiment of all of the e-mails everyone's crazy uncle sends around. It's kind of fascinating.

Sam Adams was a friggin' tax collector. Thomas Paine was probably ideologically to my left.

Do you actually know anything about your heroes?

(John Hinderaker) Immigration “reform” has something to do with amnesty for the 11 million or so who are now here illegally, but it has a great deal more to do with drastically increasing the future flow of legal immigrants. The Senate’s bill would authorize tens of millions of new immigrants over and above present levels, almost all of them–contrary to breathless news accounts of Mark Zuckerberg’s lobbying–low-skill. Why would anyone consider this a good idea? It will crush America’s working class by increasing unemployment and driving down wages. It will strain the nation’s welfare and health care systems to the breaking point. So why does anyone support it?

Candid answers to that question are hard to come by, but former ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis let the cat out of the bag at this year’s Congressional Black Caucus political conference. It’s all about racial solidarity, and political power:

ACORN’s former CEO Bertha Lewis urged Africans-Americans to support increased immigration as a strategy to gain political power.

Bertha Lewis

“We got some Latino cousins, we got some Asian cousins, we got some Native-American cousins, we got all kind of cousins,” said Lewis, who spoke Thursday at the annual political conference of the Congressional Black Caucus. “Cousins need to get together because if we’re going to be [part of the non-white] majority, it makes sense for black people in this country to get down with immigration reform,” said Lewis, whose ACORN group was formally disbanded in 2010 after a series of scandals. …

Lewis did not mention solidarity with whites, or with people who define themselves as Americans, in her appeal for power.

Others at the conference seconded Lewis’s racist remarks:

[H]er appeal for non-white solidarity was backed up by New York Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke.

“What will happen with comprehensive immigration reform will be a new landscape of humanity in the United States of America,” Clarke told the attendees.

“America is a shape-shifter, and based on who’s here, in what numbers and at what time, determines the political outcomes,” she said. Blacks should cooperate with Latinos, she said, adding “we all have skin in the game, literally.”

The racial appeal was echoed by William Spriggs, chief economist at the AFL-CIO. “If we are going to be the new majority, we’re going to have to start acting like the new majority and start setting the new rules,” he said.

Once Congress approves an immigration increase, minorities should demand more, said Chicago Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a leading advocate of the pending Senate bill,

“The next day after we pass it, you know we’re not going to be satisfied, we’re going to come back,” he said. “We’re going to have a civil rights act, we’re going to have a voting rights act…. Nobody is leaving this fight once we conclude this first chapter,” he said.

“Hopefully, in 30 years, [we] can bring immigrants … from all over the world,” Gutierrez said.

Luis Gutierrez

The irony, of course, is that African-Americans–those who have jobs, or want jobs–will be devastated by the influx of new immigrants more, as a group, than anyone else. But Bertha Lewis and some members, at least, of the Congressional Black Caucus don’t care about that. They are all about welfare, and political power.

The Democratic Party’s selling out of America’s working class is one of several scandals associated with “comprehensive immigration reform.” It is noteworthy that in Great Britain, the Labour Party has not been willing to betray its historic constituency. Labour’s leader, Ed

Miliband on the stump

Miliband, is an unabashed socialist, but he also understands that massive low-skill immigration will devastate Britain’s working class:
In his boldest pledge on the issue to date, the Labour leader said he would impose curbs on the number of low-skilled migrants allowed to enter Britain.

This would result in a reduction in the total number of people moving to the UK, he said. …

“I do want to get low skill immigration down and therefore overall immigration down, yes,” Mr Miliband told the Andrew Marr show on BBC One. …

“In our first year in office we will legislate for an immigration bill which has secure control of our borders, cracks down on exploitation of workers coming here undercutting workers already here, and says to big companies that bring in people from outside the EU that they can do that, within a cap, but they have got to train the next generation.” …

Mr Miliband insisted tightening the rules on immigration was important to make the economy work “for working people”.

The leaders of the Democratic Party aren’t too dumb to figure this out, they just don’t care. Their priority is political power: they know that a massive increase in low-skill immigration, with the resulting skyrocketing unemployment and depressed wages, will create Democratic majorities for generations to come.

‘Dictatorship 101': Beck’s Chilling Break-Down of What Parent Arrested After Questioning Common Core Means for America

Sep. 23, 2013 by Erica Ritz
theblaze.com

Glenn Beck told his audience on Monday that the arrest of a Maryland father who was asking questions about Common Core is frightening evidence of the country moving further along the path that he says goes from “nudge,” to “shove,” to “shoot.”

“You start simple, with just a little ‘ nudge,’” he said. “It’s Cash for Clunkers. It is trying to figure out a way to make energy prices ‘ necessarily skyrocket,’ to nudge you into hybrids.”

(Photo: TheBlaze TV)

But when that doesn’t work, the government starts to “shove,” Beck continued.

“That’s when they use the IRS to shut down opposing voices. They use the NSA to monitor and track American citizens…Then they start using regulation and they start arresting people to scare everybody.”

If that also fails to produce the results the government seeks, Beck said, historically, they start to shoot, or send people to re-education or internment camps.

“So where are we in the scale?” Beck asked the audience. “Are we at nudge, shove, or shoot?”

Beck said after he saw the video of what happened in Towson, Maryland, he couldn’t sleep for two hours because he believes “it is a very important piece that moves us further towards shoot.”

Here’s complete video of the event, in case you missed it:

During a public forum on Common Core, Robert Small stood up because he had a question (it should be noted that the flyer for the event encourages, “your chance to get answers to your Common Core questions” but parents were asked to submit their questions on paper).

“He wasn’t merely arrested,” Beck said. “He was removed with excessive force, and today he faces 10 years in prison…Did he look at all out of control? …This is the way it used to happen in mother Russia, not America.

Small was charged with second degree assault of a police officer, faced a $2,500 fine, and up to ten years in prison, but it was announced shortly after Beck’s program concluded that all charges have been dropped.

But that wasn’t all that shocked Beck.

“Where were the teachers as he was being removed? You know, the ones who always teach about how it’s wrong to bully people?” he asked. “Did not one person have the decency to stay stop, up there on the board?”

“We have seen in the past few months teachers stand up for a colleague who raped an 8th grade student, but the teachers don’t stand up against this?” he added.

As Small was being pushed out of the room, he expressed shock at how the crowd was sitting there like “cattle,” urging them to “question these people.”

Beck agreed: “Time to get out of the herd, because you’re being led to slaughter. Perhaps people were afraid to speak because they were afraid of being dragged off by a police officer…And when nobody is there to stand up for you, it’s because you weren’t there to stand there for everybody else that was dragged off.”

Beck told his viewers to mark the day in their journals, and that it really doesn’t matter if Small goes to jail or not, the damage has been done.

“Did people learn their lesson?” he asked. “It’s dictatorship 101 — make someone an example, and the rest will stay in line.”

He said thousands should show up at the area’s next Common Core meeting, though he doubts that will happen.

Complimentary Clip from TheBlaze TVBeck brought in two local activists who were at the event in Maryland where Small was arrested, Ann Miller — who took the video — and Cindy Sharretts, who was sitting a few seats behind Small. The two remarked that nothing was taken out of context — Small was not making a disturbance before the video began, for instance, and that they think many likely regretted not having stood up.

“Everybody has those moments where you think, in hindsight, I should have done this, I should have said that,” Miller said. “I think a lot of us had a learning moment that evening.”

They added, however, that they didn’t know at the time that the man was being arrested; they just thought he was being escorted out of the room.

“Parents really need to understand how political our school system is,” Miller urged. “We think that we’re working together, parents and teachers…[but] it’s a top-down power structure, and then you throw in money, which is Common Core.”

“In Maryland, we received a quarter of a [billion] dollars when we adopted Common Core three years ago,” she said. “Now in that time, we’ve had an information blackout. We didn’t even know we adopted it…

Beck noted that if a private company treated people in such a way, “you’d sell your stock and get out.” But you can’t when it’s the government. More than that, you turn your kids over to them for the majority of the day.

Kyle Olson of the the Education Action Group, who joined later in the program, told Beck: “This moment right now is a call to arms against Common Core, against this thug bureaucracy that we’re seeing right now, and it’s critical that people stand up and fight back.”

Miller and Sharretts urged people to join or look at the Facebook group, Don’t be Cattle! Fight Common Core!, to stay updated on the latest.

“It was clear that Mr. Small violated the rules of the meeting and disrupted the meeting. It was also clear that the officer acted appropriately and did have probable cause to make an arrest on both charges,” a statement by the state’s attorney’s office said. “In the interest of justice, further prosecution will not accomplish anything more. Therefore, the charges have been dismissed.”

And, there was a room filled with people doing just that....nothing.
