3rd GDP Estimate for Q2-2013 unchanged at 2.5%.

In the first quarter, real GDP increased 1.1 percent.

The full text of the release on BEA's Web site can be found at www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdpnewsrelease.htm

Education Myth.

This is a reply to someone who commented on my article

We don't have an Employment Problem. We have a Skills Problem. Too many out of work people don't have the right skills. You'd think the Government would be opening training centers to match up the unemployed where there are labor shortages.
Excellent point!

I think the trouble is there is more votes in throwing money at those who don't want to work or study hard to learn a career that pays well than there is in fixing what is wrong with the country. Too many think "getting a college education leads to a good job" which is actually putting the horse before the cart. The truth is those who work hard to get a degree in a difficult subject with job prospects (like engineering or biotech) make great employees for any field but those who go to college to get a degree in under water basket weaving so they have a degree to put on their resume are people most want to avoid hiring. The politicians haven't figured this out yet so they saddle up kids with massive student debt for worthless degrees while taking political contributions from the Education Mills that churn out the worthless degrees to get the money backed by taxpayers..

Too bad we don't have the poll feature here. I'd ask "Will Boeing stay in Washington?"

Union makes contract offer to Boeing to keep 777X in Washington. BA) to try to persuade the aircraft manufacturer to build the latest version of its 777 aircraft in the Seattle area. However, despite two days of talks, the sides are not close to an agreement. Boeing has been the subject of offers from numerous states about the site for constructing the 777X after the Seattle-based machinists turned down an eight-year deal last month.

The union did not disclose any of the terms of its Wednesday offer, which seeks to secure 777X wing fabrication and final assembly work. ()

Boeing said it has no comment.

Last month, the machinists soundly rejected an eight-year labor contract extension that would have let them build Boeing's newest jetliner in Washington, a decision that could forever alter the course of Boeing's 97-year presence in the state.

The union expects Boeing to respond to the offer on Thursday, said Tom Wroblewski, president of Machinists Union District Lodge 751..
