Interesting idea - do you really think the Year 2000 thing is serious enough to threaten the accounting systems of banks? - I kind of doubt that myself. It would make a good fear story for the masses though. I imagine most banks already have parallel systems up and running now that they could quickly switch over to...

Thanks for replying, I hope I didn't offend you. I'm just a big skeptic. I was considering the concept of at least using some of my capital to buy physical gold as an "insurance" in the event of a catastrophic year 2000 problem. Could you recommend what would be the best way to buy physical gold?
BTW, I'm also looking at buying an electricity generator and a fuel storage facility, not to mention lots of canned goods!
