I just got rid of my c band (I had a paraclipse hydro 7.5 C/Ku with an ECHOSTAR 710) for DISH Network. I would have kept it, but my kids won't let me veg out for 4 hours watching a stock car race with no commercials any more, so I went with DISH instead. It's ok for the TV I watch, and for the rest of the family it's much better, because you don't have to move the dish, etc.
That's good news about FOX Sports. I wonder if Rupert is trying to buy charlie out of his lawsuit?

Something to understand with regard to digital versus C/Ku analog,VCII satellite...When receiving a signal on any digital system(small dish), the originating signal is first collected by analog or VCII format, just like a home TVRO system, then converted to digital MEPG2 format, then converted back to analog signal..That ,in and of itself, tends to create a wealth of signal degradation that is not regained, let alone digital artifact that remains in the picture from being compressed/decompressed..A C/KU band dish of the correct size and tuned properly will undoubtedly produce a far superior picture than any of the digital systems..But the small dish has captured the market over C band for several reasons, 1) it's obvious size allows it to be mounted in many places and can be portable if needed 2)no moving parts and very little maintenance 3) It's low price and D-I-Y installations.. Being in the consumer electronics sales/service business and owning both a C/KU band system and DSS I can say this..Having a digital system caters to convenience issues - ease/economical ownership of having multiple receivers and a fixed dish, which means that I don't need to move a dish to get more channels..I use mine all the time when I want to surf..But if and when I have a choice between receiving a live feed of a sporting event, or watching on digital, the C/KU dish always gets the nod for it's picture quality..There's no comparison..
