Roland. Thanks for shedding more light on it. It sounds like they used Zips which, like mine, work with Post-it notes and aluminum foil. Too bad they didn't get one that doesn't, like some people here have. Then the report would have been most embarassing to Nomai. As it is, it leaves the impression that only laptop Zips are incompatible, when in fact, random Zips of all kinds are.

Re: Reputation of German computer magazine C't

Yes, C't is probably consider the most reliable and unbias (unlike some test done by ZDLab) source of technical information of computer hardware. Unfortunately I rarely read it because it is published in german, must first have it translated to English.

Testing of Nomai disks; some details

Translation from c't Germany (11/28/97)

Nomai claims that Iomega is using unfair test conditions: in a test commissioned by Iomega in the U.S., the disks have been tested by the testing institute "CETR" for 15 days at a temperature of 58 degrees Celsius and a humidity of 10%, followed by a 24-hour period of continued load / unload of the heads. (Nomai claims:) These conditions are outside the specifications of the external ZIP drive and are, thus, unrealistic. Furthermore, Iomega has intentionally modified its notebook Zip drives, released at Comdex, so that they reject Nomai cartridges.
