I thought from time to time I should explore meditation.

Me too. But, I do a predawn power walk run for an hour plus every day, and I honestly think it qualifies. I go the same route, and my mind is somewhere else, complete free association, no steady thought pattern. I often "wake up" and I'm very surprised where I am. So, although the body isn't relaxing, at all I'm churning up calories, I think the mind part qualifies as meditation.

I do think it would be good to do some mindfulness exercises before exercising. But damn, adding something else into the schedule isn't easy.
