Well, Boehner's STUCK....

He could get the votes right now to end the shutdown and he could get the votes to raise the debt ceiling, but in doing so he'd lose his speakership.....

That's the problem, in a nutshell.

Tip O'Neill shut down the government 11 times, four times under Carter and seven under Reagan. At least, both men were reasonable enough to sit down with the speaker and negotiate. Remember the term checks and balances?

Apparently it's now a cardinal sin for the "anarchist" Republicans not to rubber stamp Obama's spending, much less even debate the issue.
