That wasn't the catholic Church. It was the holy spirit moving in the hearts of believers for thousands of years. Job comes to mind.

If by the term "Catholic Church," you mean to imply the Roman Catholic papacy which has been in schism and heresy for the last thousand years, then I would have to disagree. If by the term "Catholic Church," you are referring to the Church Universal, which for the last thousand years does not include the Roman Catholics/Vatican, then I would agree that it was the Catholic Church which gave us Holy Scripture. Emile, just as you like to quote the verse in Revelation which says there are some who blaspheme by saying they are Jews, when they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan, so the Vatican says they are "Catholic" when in fact they are not, but are also the synagogue of Satan. When Orthodox Catholics confess "One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church of Christ," that does not refer to Roman Catholicism. Catholic is a Greek word that predates the apostate Roman papacy of the last thousand years. Many pre-schism popes of Rome are saints, just like the true Church of Christ recognizes the Emperor Constantine to be a Christian saint.
