Good drivers subsidize bad ones, good doctors subsidize the malpractice costs of bad ones, the young and immortal subsidize the life insurance of the careful, and most people subsidize the houses just wiped out by wildfire.

The role of the young is to grow up and take care of the elderly. That's why several generations lived together, back in the day.

Social Security has been working this way and not only as it been working fine but people have one become dependent on that. Ask a politician why they would not touch the subject of SS.

Well the flip side of that coin is that prior to Obama care old people (under 65) could not afford health insurance if they had to buy it on thier own and were dependent on the emergency room for treatment.

It's all how one wants to distribute the risk and benefits though out society. The principal behind Obama care is greater risk sharing so we all can have affordable coverage and get preventive care.. If you are saying that is Socialist in nature you would be right.

Young people have always taken care of old people... what are you talking about immoral?

Thanks said, of course you don't do so at the risk of undue impact.... these are not easy questions and if we're going to have a system we have to be OK with all sorts of individual stories that didn't necessarily pan out as planned. There is ALWAYS be problems as there are with any system of anything. LOL

I don't like the way the system works especially with regards to the massive waste of resources in the name of keeping someone alive at the "end of life" stage... its downright sick. Tough decisions if you're going to have a system that doles out things like organs, dialysis, and all that.
