Seniors don’t look at their Social Security payments as ‘handouts’ from the government since they paid into that trust fund all of their working lives

Geezers want to look at those payments as something that should have compounded to warrant current pay-outs.

Nuh-uh.

Wasn't invested, was immediately spritzed away. The time is approaching when more will have to realize it was a fatally flawed scheme that can't be sustained.

Welfare recipients, on the other hand, look at their welfare checks as kindness and largesse from a caring government.

I am going to contradict you a little bit on this one. Back when welfare checks were issued (rather than the new ATM style cards), many welfare recipients would refer to the check as their "paycheck". I made the mistake once of asking a woman who I knew never had a real job where she was getting a paycheck. I got a lecture on how hard she works every day and what a pain in the ass it was to wait in the line for her paycheck. I was baffled to say the least. My father in law, who owns a pharmacy in south central L.A., explained that all welfare recipients truly do view it as a paycheck. Of course, any questioning of how they earned the paycheck will earn you a tongue lashing. An obvious defense against having to answer truthfully.

They don't call them entitlements for nothing.

So they don't view it as a kindness and largess of a caring government. There really isn't that much thought put into it. They just know that the democrats promise them that the checks will keep on coming and the republicans want to stop sending them paychecks. Though, for the sake of your point, it's still pretty much buying votes.
