Ted, the median household income for people living in SF is $71K. For Alameda county, it's $69K. The HUD statistics are meaningless because that's only used as a cut-off level for housing subsidies. And that's just because real estate is incredibly inflated here. For a transit worker to have an annual salary above that of the median is pretty damn good. Now if you want to argue that the median income here isn't a "living wage," well then that's a whole different argument, one that puts into focus the unintended consequences of liberalism here in the Bay Area.
