Ancor Exceeds Expectations With New Customer Service Program

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sparked by growing market acceptance of its GigWorks(TM) Fibre Channel products, Ancor Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCR) today announced EXCEED(SM), a new service and technical support program designed to provide an added level of value and service to Ancor customers.

Jeff Nesler, Ancor customer service manager, said EXCEED is being launched in response to fast-growing demand for Fibre Channel technology, coupled with Ancor's expanding customer and partner base which now includes market leaders like Amoco, GeoQuest and Boeing. The program was developed in conjunction with selected Ancor integration partners, and focuses on maximizing the availability and reliability of compute environments that use GigWorks products.

The EXCEED program includes: -- Extended access to experienced systems engineers staffing the Ancor help desk, providing first-call troubleshooting and evaluations plus software updates, maintenance and feature releases; -- Full access to Ancor electronic services including web-delivered software upgrades and maintenance; -- Available-next-business-day hardware replacement; -- Two-hour response time for phone inquiries.

According to Nesler, EXCEED also provides customers with periodic updates on hardware and software upgrades, including recommendations tailored to each individual customer site.

"With the largest installed customer base of any Fibre Channel switch maker, we offer the highest level of experience in Fibre Channel system integration and installation," he said. "Plus, GigWorks products deliver the industry's best performance and reliability, giving our customers the power to improve the productivity of their compute resources. EXCEED extends this power curve by offering customers the tools and knowledge to optimize performance and up-time.

"We think EXCEED strengthens our productive partnership with each of our customers, and should be seen as an important value-add for every customer considering any Fibre Channel SAN or LAN solution," he added.

Alan, speaking of sweet memories, The Sequent announcement prompted me to go back to posts # 2000+, from 1 year ago...
Kerry mentioned in December '96 an integration problem.
Tim Donaldson suddenly left the company with no explanation. This was touted as a "positive".
Then A.R. told us the Sequent contract was cancelled. (Boy was he flamed!) Ancor didn't even know it.
Then on January 22, the news hit.
And the rest, as they say, is history. (A lot of it yet to be written).
I noticed that a lot (most?)of us who were there are still hanging in here, even Ed Schultz. Some of us are still believers, others just watching out of interest.
Someday, when we are all retired and millionares thanks to Ancor, it would be wonderful to meet everybody at an annual meeting! I will buy the drinks.wj
