You have to understand what a lefty is talking about before you respond to him. A statement like his could refer to two very different things:

1. Crony capitalism - That is bad and needs to stop. It's a pure gift to the rich.. But the left likes it, it's a "public private partnership". Fascism really.

2. Provisions in the law that let you keep more of what is already yours. The left consider bad because from their prospective EVERYTHING belongs to the state so if you keep it from the state in effect the state is giving it to you.

This poster could be referring to #1 (and he right) or #2 (and he's a lefty idiot). I don't know him so I don't know what he meant.

edit. Reading his post again there are elements of both in a confused mixture. Muddled, emotional posting usually means the poster is a lefty.

"The top 5% pay 58.66% of the income tax

The bottom 50% pay 2.5% of the income tax."

Meaningless numbers.

How much of the income do the top 5% have?

Urban legend has the top 5% having 95% of the income. If so, they should be paying 95% of the taxes?

Would you happen to have that info?

I do agree with the sentiment, though - tax all dollars equally regardless of who is holding them.

Flat tax.
