Various techniques have their own pros and cons, and pros and cons in particular circumstances. Agile is not right for every project, and I'm not sure it is well suited for a mission critical project involving a significant number of individual contractors and developers.

But since the projects I work on are small and at most deal with one other person writing code, it isn't my area of expertise. What works for me is actually testing the product before it is released.
