That is so stupid (sorry but there is just no other word) it makes me want to set my hair on fire. You cannot get a hip replacement in the ER, or fight cancer for five years without good health insurance. I watched my whole family sell off their land to pay for medical bills in their old age. Few things on earth are more important than having good health insurance. R2O: <<Why are you so hung up on 'insurance' ? You do realize that insurance is necessarily a 'profit' making endeavor, even if it is 'non-profit'. koan: " civilized society makes sure its people can get medical attention when they need it." R2O:<<But who cares about insurance except those providing it? I (or anybody) can simply go to an ER and get medical attention --- bleeding or not. They ( or I ) may pay, or may not. Their insurance (if they have any) will pay, or not. Does not that provide the medical attention when they need it? There will always be goats that don't ( or can't ) follow the rules. What does the system do with them.
