Does anybody know if Intel has ever used or intends to use "local interconnect"? This is one of the reasons AMD die sizes are so much smaller than Intel. It may also be one of the reasons it took so long to get decent yields at 0.35 micron, but experience mastering it should help in the 0.25 micron process. Imagine what a headline, "Intel reveals yield problem on Deschutes" would do to AMD stock price in 1998.
