I read a few years ago about Juan Williams and his role at Fox, and in that article he discussed the fact that often he is placed specifically on a show to provide an alternative viewpoint. As a result he sometimes ends up in a "devil's advocate" position that is more [or less] extreme than his own viewpoint. I have given up on all the cable news channels because of the commentary shows these people (as well as the biased anchors) appear on. It is all such bullshit. And I really have the same attitude about online articles. I find more and more frequently, when I'm reading an article from a newspaper site or blog, I skip the bullshit and look for links to original sources with no commentary. I don't always have the time to read them fully, but I think you get more information spending whatever time with the original source material than getting some nitwit's interpretation.
