AtHome to See Profits in 1998

AtHome Corp., Redwood City, Calif., intends to become profitable in
1999, Chief Financial Officer Kenneth Goldman said Tuesday. Speaking at
a PaineWebber Inc. media conference in New York, Mr. Goldman said the
start-up company, which went public with much fanfare in July, expects to
have its cable-based Internet service available in 19 markets by the end of
the year.It is now in 16 markets. At the end of the third quarter, the
company had 26,000 subscribers. Its near-term expansion plans include
Europe, where the company is currently talking to partners, Mr. Goldman
said. Mr. Goldman said the company's business arm, At Work, has more
than 300 corporate accounts in 11 markets. At Work offers companies
Internet access and interactive services for telecommuters. The company's
expansion will accelerate, Mr. Goldman says, because service launches are
becoming much more predictable and efficient, and economies of scale are
kicking in. AtHome has exclusive agreements with eight cable companies
including Tele-Communications Inc., Cox Communications Inc. and
Comcast Corp. Its potential reach through those partnerships is 50 million
homes.

Let the short squeeze being.....2,000,000 shares must be bought back.
