I think the tipping model is obsolete. Goes back to the day when there was an upper class and a "service" class. Today we understand that EVERY job (in the private sector) is a service job.

Me too, I always tip. But if I feel that I'm paying too much because hotel maids - or the kids in a burger joint - must by law receive $15 an hour, I may feel resentful about it, and cut down.

Wise choice. It doesn't take much for an annoyed skycap to switch an ATL tag for that SFO tag on your bags.

I also typically leave a few bucks on the pillow for the hotel maid.
