As far as dengue fever goes, it was eradicated in the 1940s due to mosquito control measures.

Sure, together with malaria, which almost went the same way.
That was before DDT was de facto outlawed to save some bald eagle populations from being reduced.
A fact.

And now, please don't come up again with your 'DDT is still allowed for vector control' BS...
