Re the negative rap on Dallas: The streets were filled with waving crowds. JFK had carried TX in 1960. John Connally, in the car with the Kennedy's, had just been elected Governor with a wide margin. The idea that Dallas was unfriendly territory for JFK was nuts.

Being in a hurry or unnerved to get out a story so earthshaking must have been the reason that the lead header for the article calls JFK the 36th president.
