"I do think tradesmen should go to college first, if they can."

Why? You don't need philosophy or calculus to be a plumber. Why should they go before they become a plumber? They can become a plumber, get paid (very well) the entire way through apprentice, journeyman and master. Then, when they're making six figures and holding office in a topless bar while their subs do all the work, just dropping by to sign paperwork for city inspectors, they can afford to go to college on their own dime! ( based on my actual life experience, briefly as an apprentice plumber! )

Recession or not, the plumbing has to be fixed, and the plumber won't fix it without being paid.

I don't know if you've had any plumbing work done lately, but with what they charge today, you'd think they were brain surgeons.

So, you believe EVERYONE should go to college?
