IBM seems to have little incentive to do anything for Cyrix, at any realistically competitive speed. Cyrix is where IBM puts its last generation fabrication technology,- out to pasture before killing it. IBM ME will get to .18mu on the PowerPC before they leave the .35mu process (MX, and ?GX). Great way to salvage technology, pass it on to suckers like Cyrix. IBM probably doesn't want the MX chips anyway, and they don't want to encourage another system integrator competitor, NSM, from bringing out a low cost computer with which they can't compete on price, regardless of how low AMD goes.

I'll bet IBM's strategy is to stick to Cyrix for as long as they can, and wring as many $ out of them along the way. I hope Halla doesn't put up with this 2nd class citizen treatment much longer.
