Jim Rickards's view in "Currency Wars" is that all the QE bond purchases are meant to devalue the dollar so as to gain a trading advantage for the U. S. against other countries, especially China.

It has nothing to do with creating jobs (except indirectly, as a consequence of increasing exports).

I think I will listen to some more of his recent interviews and try to understand what he thinks will happen next, with all these central banks competing to devalue.
