No, it's far more than just that, it changes the rules for the Senate for the first time since Thomas Jefferson drew them up... Jefferson's rule required what is called a super majority vote and not a simple majority vote... a simple majority is more than 50%... a super majority vote requires a two-thirds majority in order to pass a Bill... Jefferson had the wisdom to realize than a simple majority would enable Bills to pass without any opposing debate, Jefferson understood that a super majority vote would require that both sides have a discussion and work together in order to pass any Bill... this maneuver by Reid and his croneys is exactly the same thing they did when passing ovomitcare without any Republican participation...

Disagreement is part of the American process, but these socialists see disagreement as obstruction... this is a political takeover and power grab, and will bring a lasting and significant change in the way the Senate will do business from now on... without a filibuster, the voices of the minority will NOT be heard, this is really not American, this change moves us one step closer to a dictatorship... this is profoundly dangerous...

The only thing is that these idiots who forced this vote change will cry and moan when the Republicans take over the Senate... if the Republicans take over the House and Senate and win the White House, then this makes a clear path to repealing ovomitcare and no liberal would be allowed to voice any dissent, they can just sit there and be quiet... as a result, this rule change will only further polarize Washington... this is how stupid and short sighted these liberals are, they have no clue what we can do when the shoe is on the other foot, and I'm very sure they won't like it, and it will be tough shit on them...

Any Senate Rules experts here?

Not me, but I'm pretty expert in detecting bull$h*t, and I'm detecting tons of it from the Senate right now.

Some people think that there are no rules anymore, after this fiasco.

I hope the republicans listen to Rush (and me) and decline to participate in anything.

Remember back in Wisconsin (over minor union rules) the Dems left the entire state to stop legislation, and moved to Illinois. I think they did the same for a short period in Indiana too.

If the dems can do it over something this minor, the republicans better stand up.

I'm trying to understand how and why MORE THAN 9 out of 10 people in the United States disapprove of Congress, yet this isn't break news around the clock!!!

The leftist media always rattles on about the tyranny of other governments around the world and how the dictators of those nations are extremely unpopular. They told us for years and years how Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi were brutal dictators who controlled their subjects through fear and brutality. We were repeatedly told that that both men had extremely low support. Consequently, they are both dead now, at the hands of their citizens who refused to be subjugated and brutalized any longer.

How is the situation in the United States any different? Congress and the POTUS are very evil and tyrannical instruments of the nation's misery. They subjugate and brutalize the citizens in the face of overwhelming public opposition. Members of Congress and the POTUS are deeply loathed by millions upon millions of citizens.

Again, how is it that MORE THAN 9 out of 10 people in the United States disapprove of Congress, yet this isn't break news around the clock!!!
