I have just had a long telephone conversation with Dave Gurney of Investor Relations and come away with the feeling that we should hold onto our shares. Points to remember: this company has no debt and cash of approximately $13.5 million Canadian and shares outstanding with all options exercised of 14.6 million; this fact if known should provide a floor to the stock value. Also, the management of Softquad cannot think of any grounds which Lerner Hauspie could have for a countersuit. As to the impact on revenues of a loss of $1,000,000 US: people will not buy the discreet speech products if they know that the continuous speech product is on its way and Softquad loses its ability to tack on any further upgrades. As to whether the fourth quarter would be profitable he would not comment due to the uncertainty of this latest development; I believe he was sincere. When questioned, he said that there were no prospects of being takeover at this time; we both agreed that Microsoft made a mistake in not taking over Softquad. Re the special shareholders' meeting: this was to give stock optiions to certain key employees for the purposes of motivation which I can understand. As far as pumping out information is concerned, Dave reiterated that all the proper filings and notices are done as required by securities laws through transfer agents, etc. All in all I came away feeling that they are doing their best.
