Trader Dave,
Wanted your opinion on this. It would seem to me that for the past several years most companies have been focusing their efforts on getting their mission critical applications ready for Y2K which has, as many people are saying, provided for increased(i.e.non sustainable) growth in the enterprise software companies, PSFT, ORCL, SAP, etc.
Your business won't be in deep trouble if your SFA or CSS systems aren't ready. It's only recently that decent SFA systems have even become available. But you're in big trouble if you can't pay your employees, get monthly financial statements, etc.etc. Given that and given the fact that a company can only take on so many software implementations at any one time, it would seem to me that as these companies wind down implementions of these other systems over the next year or so that it would leave the door wide open for the VNTV's, etc of the world to experience very significant growth. Anyway, this was what I was thinking so appreciate any feedback.
Melissa

TD,

Interesting comment regarding Oracle partnerships. My understanding is that Oracle is not going to try to compete in DRP/logistics/supply chain. They have been dating Manugistics heavily until now. We'll have to see how "evenhanded" Oracle will be towards ITWO vs. MANU.

I also noted that Oracle's marketing of sales/marketing/support automation played up SFA. It seems Oracle is more interested in competing with Siebel (in SFA) than VNTV (in support). I think there are many residual good feelings at Oracle towards Mr. Luongo. Also, Oracle probably perceives SFA to be a more under-served sector.

Mr. Farber, I agree that VNTV has pulled away somewhat from CLFY and SCOP. However, IMO those companies are still viable competitors and are very attractively priced (at $200 million valuations) right now.
