We had the same experience when we named Kelsey. I'd never met another Kelsey. When she was a year old we moved into a Suburban Seattle neighborhood and the neighbors had a Kelsey. We had to use their middle names to refer to them: Kelsey Lynn and Kelsey Elizabeth.

We had that happen with both our kids.
It wasn't popular when he was a baby - he started the trend.
