im guessing OT

" only a few corners of SI have much useful stock content left"

Yes we may be detroit. Remember during the heyday the site attracted a certian type and caliber of investor. that was around 17 years ago and most have changed thier investment styles as well as objectives. I even think at one point you fell to PFD issues. Imagine PFD issues being discussed in 1998.

So you have a maturing base of investor. Other interests naturally creep in, and lets face it, if your not a day trader you got to talk about something. how to run SI for instance.

I think the challenge of SI is to define who WE are. Decide whether that market segment is sustainable as anything other than a hobby or if can be made profitable. Once they determine that, if able to monetize, they need to dress it up to sell it or.....................

Grow it. You cant grow "US". Mature investors already have developed habits and style and contacts. So you need to get the fresh blood. Just thinking out loud, but perhaps the seekingalpha approach where any ninny thats willing to put their name on the line has an opportunity to demonstrate their awareness. By capturing gurus in the making and providing a forum you not only revitalize "US" (as we try to shoot the newbies down), but draw in all those holders that follow every shread of information printed. So SI should scan the web looking for content providers and create a forum to strut their stuff (ie Mr Pink). They could even play matchmaker. Seeing a heated discussion or interest of a thread. lets say, YOU and finding someone that actually is short MHR to explain why there are still 30 million short.......wouldnt you want to read that? wouldnt most here? Not saying its feasible or even can be done, but if it aint growing' its dying.

They have an audience.
